Construction-work progress at Coface Arena / Grateful Mainz 05 fans
The fans of the German Bundesliga team Mainz 05 are grateful for the purposeful commitment: „Without doubt, the greatest heroes these days on the site are probably the building labour ... who despite the poor weather conditions work on our new home mostly until 8 p.m. (for concrete work even through to 10 p.m.). They deserve our appreciation and thanks”, can be read on the Arena-Website. Ingenious tricks helped the building labour to find ways despite the freezing weather. To continue the work on the foundation of the main stand they covered the reinforced floor slab with plastic covers and used hot air to prevent the moisture from freezing. “By this means we have hardly lost any time during the winter months”, says project manager Winfried Weiß, “If we keep the current speed nothing can stop us from completing the stadium with a capacity of 33.500 spectators in about 12 months.”
